Presumably supplied direct from E Germany

For a wee bit of balance what about the people who have had their mobility vehicles taken off them by this government, but in order that they can continue working a taxi is paid for that far exceeds the cost to the tax payer of the original mobility car?
The big picture doesn't seem to be looked at when it comes to serving the disabled, many of whom work and do need help to enable them to continue working - and of course paying their taxes!

That's what you get when you contract out public services - why not the outrage over Richard Branson's salary? He's providing public services as well. You'd sooner they didn't run a surplus, and then run out of money when new rules, etc, are brought in? And that 11 times the nPM's salary is bollocks, since it doesn't take into account at least two official residences, free transport (which would all be taxed were it any other position), a hefty pension, etc. I've never seen the Mail saying much about the number of disabled people who are losing their transport (under new benefit rules), or this: UK welfare reforms have led to "grave and systematic violations" of disabled people's rights, a UN inquiry has said.

Or, come to that, the cost to the NHS of cuts to social services, meaning that many people have to stay in hospital for much longer than they need because the home care they need is not available.

And if you contract services out - to a private company or a charity - you don't have any control over how the money you pay them is spent.
With a private company - like Virgin - you're paying for the inflated wages of the COE and the rest, and you're also paying for the shareholders' dividends, and that's before anything else.

How anyone could believe that a private company could possibly be a cheaper option is beyond me. They have to make a profit in order to pay their shareholders and of course their CEO. Talking of Care of the elderly I harp back to the good old days when every community had their old folks home with the staff knowing the patients in their care and, of course, the relatives of said patients knew the staff! These were well run establishments and, unlike the 'care homes' now, they weren't there to make a profit. Now we see people having to stay in hospital because there is no care package for them in the community, at home or in residential care. The whole system has gone to the dogs - all through privatisation.
We need to wake up to the problems in the NHS and see that care of the elderly has to be addressed in order to free up beds that are needed. Treating people in corridore or in some cases in the back of ambulances is not on - we are not a third world country, yet!

We're actually a really rich country. But not a wise one it would seem!

"Failed NHS trust caused 'unnecessary harm' to patients Patients at a failed NHS trust suffered "unnecessary harm" because a senior leadership team was "out of its depth", says a report seen by BBC News. Misguided cost-cutting at Liverpool Community Health (LCH) led to severe staff shortages and bullying, it found. Cost cutting. Which is why the NHS is in trouble, which is what the protest at the weekend was about (not, incidentally, what Trump - and presumably you - say what it was about).

Privatisation cannot be the answer - remember the shareholders, they need their pound of flesh! The problem in this case would seem to be that the people in charge hadn't a clue about healthcare or anything else for that matter. What they were interested in was a big fat paycheque at the end of the month.
A top heavy Health Trust with the fat cats taking home enormous salaries while the ones on the frontline are lucky to get their 1%. Jeremy Hunt would appear to be one of the people out of his depths when it comes to running a health service - or is it, as I suspect, a deliberate plan to see the end of the best Health Service in the world.
TM seems to be very keen to sell out our health care to Donald - well she didn't answer the question yesterday so by default I believe that is the plan! Heaven help us all in the years to come.

The worst of the winter flu and noroviruses have come and gone, and despite the dire warnings from the left the crumbling inefficient old NHS coped They need to take a look at the so called bed blocking crisis (stirred up by the politicalised staff) and help themselves for the future. Crisis, what crisis. Our neighbour's mother is dying and the family had her home for her final days. Social care agencies were queuing at their door offering their services, one was given the task but proved to be not appropriate so were sacked and another one brought in. They provide four visits a day by two workers, a cleaner/laundry person once a week, and a one night a week sleep over. No shortage of social care workers here but don't tell Chairman Jeremy or Momentum because it doesn't suit their propaganda. Social care workers were introduced by Mrs Thatcher to enable people to receive care in their own homes where they were much better off rather than one of those awful state run old peoples homes or geriatric hospitals There are two reasons that people overstay in hospital, firstly if a relative needs care it is provided totally free in hospital. Have the patient home and the family have to pay for social care Secondly, the incompetence and inefficiency of the service - especially from the doctors who love the propaganda for their for their political objective, even more pay. In 2014 I was rushed in to hospital with life threatening levels of potassium shown up in my blood test. Further blood test in A&E confirmed the level, admitted to a ward another blood test confirmed the result (why so many?). Put on an intravenous drip for 20 minutes, hour later another blood test showed potassium level normal. Expect to go home but no, kept in for observation Many beds and different wards later, three days later after non stop blood tests which showed all was ok I could go home but only after a doctor had signed me out. It took all day to find a doctor, this in a major hospital and only after I decided to sign myself out which produced an horrific reaction from the conditioned staff did they find one So for three days I occupied beds that someone waiting in A&E needed. These are just a couple of actual examples of how things are from those of us who actually live in the real world and not the dreamy spires of socialisturbia in Islington or Tuscany sipping vino No doubt this will all be denied by those who slavishly follow the socialist dogma but these days I just ignore them, you can only take so much of the nonsense from Chairman Jeremy's little red book and the Momentum hymn sheet
