Nothing at all. I don't even have a tin opener. Hardly ever buy frozen things either.

Baked beans. Mushy peas (not as good as proper ones, made with dried peas, but pretty good). Soup. Chick-peas. Chilli beans.
We got a new can opener a couple of weeks back. I hadn't realised how crap the old one was - the lid going down into the bean juice every time. Now it's great.
edit changed "p" for "d".

Depends on what you cook I 'spose... I am never without time of tomatoes - never 'value' though...got to be good'uns. But then, I make a lot of Italian dishes that require them. I also have beans in my whirligig...cannellini, red kidney beans, butter beans. The most unreliable thing in a tin,is tuna. No matter what it says (steak etc) the contents could be mush - ugh. I like to buy jars of tuna fillets (in Spain/Italy)then you can see the lovely whole pieces. I keep a small tin of corned beef as well. When my son visits, he pokes around in fridge or cupboard for something (why do they feel they still own the place?) and might open said corned beef and eat it with the odd tomato until dinner comes along!

Quite a few years ago I had some people stating me from America. I was cooking my one of my kids favourite puddings. Rice pudding, and they would fight over the skin. 'whatya doing? Making rice pudding. A pause and she said to me 'but you don't make rice pudding, it comes in cans'
If you have ever eaten it out of a 'can' you will wish you had not!

Real rice pudding is good as well. They're just good in different ways. It's kind of like the way you can't compare chip shop chips to chips you make at home. They're good, in different ways. You wouldn't use chip shop chips for egg chips and beans, and home made chips for fish and chips is wrong, or at least a completely different meal. I don't eat fish, but when I did it was always a disappoint when, after being told we were to have fish and chips, to discover that it was not to come from the chip shop.

I used tinned rice pudding to make a baked pudding using a separated egg. Using the beaten yolk stirred into the rice, which went into a pie dish. About 6 teaspoonfuls of good apricot conserve were placed evenly in the rice mixture but not mixed into it. I whipped the white and made a meringue with castor sugar and spread that roughly over and scattered split almonds over that and baked it until the meringue and almonds were lightly brown and crisp. It was always popular.

I always have Heinz baked beans in the cupboard.I also keep a couple of tins of red salmon for sandwiches. I have a big American fridge/freezer, so I always have that stocked up. Ooh. just remembered I always have tins of tomatoes too. I made a large rice pudding for myself yesterday. When I'm not feeling well it is one of the few things I can eat. I have had tinned but prefer my own. I don't put any fat in it,or sugar. I use Stevia sweetener. I used to make Elizabeth David's old fashioned rice pudding when the children were at home, but as I don't like it, there's not much point now.

It is a long time since I made it, I try to avoid making puddings just for myself now but I used Ambrosia which was the right consistency and made it a quick pudding to prepare AND cook.

The dish sounds very Spanish or Portuguese...😄
Desserts nowadays are for when someone else is making it! However, a tub of decent vanilla in the freezer and some waffle cones makes you feel less hard-done-by!
