What kitchen gadgets did you buy and use/not use?
Have you got a deep-fat fryer?

Have you got a deep-fat fryer? No we don't, and won't have either. I find them scary things. Having used a big one when I worked in a commercial kitchen I grew to dislike cleaning them. However, on the whole I quite like gadgets.

I agree Norty. I have never trusted them or pressure cookers.

The most useful thing I have is my Kenwood mixer. Mashed spuds in seconds, bubble and squeak, pastry, even Christmas cake + 1000 other things.
Unlike you I do have a deepfat fryer. I can't remember the make but it is great and all the parts(apart from the heater) go in the dishwasher so you don't get the build up of sticky half set oil on the surfaces that are difficult to clean.

I have a halogen oven........use it all the time. Main oven is virtually obsolete.

I love my deep fat fryer. Don't use it very much and I change the oil every week or two. Got a sandwich toaster and slow cooker.

I have just bought on a charity stall a nutcracker in the shape of a squirrel. You put the nut in his mouth and crank the tail. I have an abundance of hazel nuts and I know my grandchildren will love it!
Stupid, I didn't need it, but a decent smile factor is attached!

I am more jealous of your nuts than the cracker!

I bought one of those George Foreman sandwich toasters. I've used it once in 12 months.

I have an electric tin opener,a slow cooker,a breadmaker, a kenwood mixer.a coffee machine a George forman grill and a sandwich toaster. The only one I use is the slow cooker. The Kenwood tin opener has a knife sharpener which ruined one of my knives.,

On a charity stall I recently bought a squirrel. No ordinary squirrel With this one you raise his tail and crack nuts in his mouth! Completely insane but my little squiglets enjoy it after they have scoured my driveway for handfuls of hazel nuts. One of my secretaries did ask if the nuts came out of it's backside but I think that is a feature still in development!

Just ordered an Upcart. Our kitchen is up a flight of stairs. I have an Acorn to ride up and down but we need a trolley for the shopping. The trolley has sets of three wheels at the rear, so bringing in shopping should be simple and painless (fingers crossed)
