I have quite a few off and on... But today's is garlic sausage. I went to three shops trying to buy it but found some in M&S. What can I say? Any self respecting Frenchman would've wept. I'm not kidding - it was Spam - there's no other word for it. In the old days, you could buy some, it was made in France, it wass meaty and it stunk the fridge out. I can tell you, it's in there now, without even a trace of a whiff!

Things aint what they used to be. You can't buy a decent fresh kipper these days. We used to be able to get them from The isle of man but just supermarket ones these days and they don;t taste the same.

In days of yore, they were big, fleshy and savoury. Now (if you can find one!) it'll just be flabby and alarmingly salty.

How about smoked haddock.Salty and dyed. Yuk! I love smoked haddock or smoked cod. I find fish generally to be pretty bland and these are very tasty - simply poached in milk

For a simple mean I mash smoked fish cooked in milk with potatoes. It's very tasty. Don't forget a dash of pepper.

Smoked fish cooked in milk and flaked, covered in parsley sauce and topped with cheesy mashed potato makes a simple fish pie. Add prawns/shrimps to the flaked fish to make admirals pie

Cous cous is the work of the devil. So true Aubrey, so true. I fail to understand the appeal.

Couscous, like all pastas, is never meant to be eaten alone but needs strong flavours added.
Having said that I'd rather have rice.

Talking about food moans. Is anyone put off certain foods when they find out what they are made of. Instance: Brawn Instance: Black pudding
It doesn't put me off but I remember being surprised when I found out how they are made.

I found it hard to swallow. Maybe not enough sauce. But still.

I think it depends on how hungry you are, if there was nothing else I suppose you would eat it. Once stayed in a hotel in Blackpool where there was a group of Scottish people. The sight of them every morning tucking into bacon, eggs, and black pudding was not nice
