I don't think supermarkets need any encouragement in that department. Every time I go shopping various items are getting smaller. How will it stop obesity by removing the walnut from Walnut Whip, for example.

I think the walnut removal is more to do with nut allergies rather than calorie concerns, it widens their market I too have noticed how stuff is shrinking, and the odd few pence added on as well. If Mr Kipling's "incredibly small cakes" shrink much more they will be less than one bite

That's quite funny - the walnut is the only 'healthy' thing in it!

Very interesting talk on R5 from a walnut importer, who knew walnuts were that different. Love walnuts, hate making coffee cake or carrot cake because I eat most of the walnuts before they get into the cake and then there are very few sparsely dispersed amongst the dough.
