Yes they do, I used to use spoons to hold the tyre while putting in the inner tube. Used a white chalk over the patch and glue. Ah what memories.

Touch wood, I've not had a puncture for a while. I always carry a spare inner tube with me and have a basin of water and a bicycle repair kit on standby I've seen other bikes with tubeless tyres. I guess you'd have to do roadside repairs to get moving again. Or carry another tyre with you...

Any of you have a 'party-line' phone? We didn't even have a phone. My dad refused to get one. I had to go out to call my mates from the street phone; oh the embarrassment in teenage years No wonder I didn't have any friends - that's my story and I'm sticking to it

Who remembers bitter winters and being dressed with a scarf over the top of your hat, as if designed to keep your jaw tightly clenched, and having socks put on over your shoes to stop you slipping.

I don't think they have party lines these days. I remember the 1952 cup final and we had the only tv in the street. My Dad had all the neighbours around to watch it, he put a blanket over the windows to make it look like being in the cinema.

I remember walking with my mother to a shop to change the accumulator for one that had been charged so we could listen to the radio. I thought it was only a couple of hundred yards but took the time to look at my old address on Google maps and find it was close to 3/4 of a mile. I would have been about 4
