I would not call myself a fan, but watching England and South Africa was SO fast and exciting!
I remembered an incident when I was about seven or eight...my dad was decorating the hall and stairs and he had the test match on the telly. He said to me "Sit there and watch the cricket and when you see the scoreboard, tell me the score" After several minutes, the board appeared and I shouted at dad, up the ladder, "It's on, it's on..." "Good, what does it say?" called dad "I dunno. I can't read it!"

England were bowled out for 58 - their sixth lowest total - as New Zealand dominated day one of the first Test

I'd rather Australia had been bowled out for 58, or 28, or 8, than what's just coming to light here this morning. I'm ashamed to be Australian today.

I am disgusted over the whole affair. To cheat is to gain advantage over opponents by foul means. The entire Russian athletics teams were banned from Olympic games and world championships. Cameron Bancroft and Steve Smith apologies because they'd been caught cheating on camera. It begs the question, how many times have they done that and got away with it. All their recent results can be forgotten now, we will never know if they got wins fairly. A fine of their match fee and one game ban is disgraceful. They should be banned from the sport for life. It's just a slap on the wrist. These players are heading off to India for the IPL soon earning fortunes. But now we know they can't be trusted to play the game fairly.

I agree Rondetto. It was real shock to me; I've loved cricket and the Aussie cricket team for decades, but everything you say is true. A very sad day for Australian cricket.

I didn't realise cricket had a rule against scratching your balls!

Is it just the Australians or is everybody at it? Ball-tampering: Five memorable cricketing controversies from Atherton to Du PlessisBut you could say that thing they do of polishing the ball on their trousers ball-tampering, because it is intended to do the opposite of what is suggested here and polish one side of the ball: again, to make it swing.

The Indian Premier league starts on Saturday 7th April. As usual I will be glued to it, notable absentees this year of course are David Warner and Steve Smith.
