Yeh I'm partial to a bit of sport on the telly but I don't want it down the boozer. Trouble is, most of the pubs round here have got it.

We had a nice local. Mr G used to take me in there for a half of shandy and a sandwich now and again. I can't abide it now. It's more like a betting shop.

I fought in the campaign for real ale. It sounds like they need a campaign for real pubs now!

Found a new local! I went for a little walk by the park and found it down a side street by the canal. The only entertainment was a group who performed in the pub garden. They'd come on a boat.
The landlord seems a decent cove (ex copper) and he hates pubs with TVs! ;D

In West London? Sounds like a pub I used to frequent in my biking days.

My local is about 100m away - it's just been (dreaded word) re-furbished, but it seems they have done a good job: www.thegeorgewraysbury.co.ukWe also have The Perseverance www.thepercy.co.ukThat's two out of the original five - one of which had closed before I came here 40 years ago. Two others have been demolished...

There are very few proper pubs left in Melbourne, sadly; especially in the CBD. When I first moved here in 1998 there were still several around: The Stork (where I kipped for my first couple of weeks while looking for a permanent place to live - $29 a night!); The Waterside; Young and Jacksons; The Duke of Wellington. Of these The Stork's been demolished and a fucking great apartment tower built in its place, the Waterside and Y&Js yuppified out of all recognition and my favourite lovely darling little pub, the Duke, being on the heritage register so the bastards couldn't knock it down, first had a monstrous fucking apartment tower built on top of it, and then got yuppified out of all recognition... There are still a few proper pubs around the suburbs, but they're bloody few and far between

I'm loving the swearing Prue! My local is great, it's not far and they allow dogs which is perfect after we've been for a walk up Carlton Hill or around Hollyrood Park to dive in there for a leisurely pint. www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Restaurant_Review-g186525-d3239934-Reviews-Cumberland_Bar-Edinburgh_Scotland.htmlHaving read some of the reviews I see that it is under new ownership (no signs inside that state this) I can only hope they won't bung a telly in or any juke or slot machines. The constant flickering and the noise when it spits out coins gets on my nerves.
