About an hour ago, I was listening to these - all at once! Baby I love your Way (Big Mountain) Johnny B Good (Chuck Berry) Gansta's Paradise (Coolio)
They were blaring out of three differrent cars at the lights as I crossed the road!

Concept album about vampires and blood and 70s eurosploitation films and that. I'd never heard of her until last year, when someone on the Fall site put one of her songs on a compilation. I was intrigued enough to dig about a bit, and found that she'd done an album based, partly, on the works of Jess Franco: the idea of which, frankly, speaks to my soul. Here's a direct reference (the title is from a Franco film, and some of the images - like the dripping saliva, or dripping something - could have come from him as well): Another one (NSFW; but that needn't bother anyone here, need it?)

My first listen at this (or the album from which this is from anyway):
It is odd and wonderful, maybe a new "Blindness".

One of three albums he got out of his last tour (5+ hours worth, with - I think - no repetition). This is the political selection, with a lot about what was going on in the US in 1988, especially religion getting involved in politics:

A song about football holliganism:
Cheap English man in the paper shop You mug old women in your bobble hat Better go spot a place to rest No more ground boutique at match in Chelsea We are Sparta F.C.
We have to pay for everything (Hey!) But some things are for free (Hey!) We live on blood (Hey!) We are Sparta F.C. (Hey!) English Chelsea fan this is your last game (Hey!) We're not Galatasaray, we're Sparta F.C. (Hey!)

Shades, I just listened to the Freddy Cole song and I love it. I haven't come across him before, he has a good voice.
