Their album before this was big and clean-sounding, full of bouncy riffs and optimism, the one that gets in all the lists of Albums You Should Hear and generally classed as their best. This one, on the other hand, is all muddy and dark, full of paranoia and folk horror. It is obviously much better.

I knew nothing about this song, which to most of the rest of Europe and parts of South America seems on about the level of Dancing Queen; but I saw it used in the film Raise Ravens (Cría cuervos) (1976) and I was hooked:
