I have resurrected this thread as I thinking the next few months it will have several more pages! Did any of you see the Matt Frei programme this week? "PresidentTrump: Can he really win?" The joking about him (cartoonists aside) has really stopped. It's now serious. Frei visited Ohio...you can absolutely see why people there are going to vote for him...a post industrial wasteland filled with people without hope. Ohio,Pennsylvania and Florida are the states he has to win (I think) Another thing that political commentators said re the polls (a bit like Leave voters) people are loathe to admit they are going to vote Trump, so he probably has a lot more under the radar followers. Nigel has been over there sharing a platform to support him...largely, I guess, because of his annoyance at Obama coming here and saying Remain.

Trump going to meet the Mexican president today. I recall he said Trump could f*** off regarding the wall. I wonder if he will say that when they meet face to face 😁?

Whilst Trump is in Mexico, Hilary Clinton is swiftly going to build the wall and keep him there

It would be fitting if Trump could be subjected to one of those searches on his way back, the kind that involves several hours, a doctor, an x-ray machine, and a few pairs of latex gloves, and a bill (for medical treatment) at the end of it. He's probably not pretty or young (or female) enough for the full treatment though.

From reverential to strident... the two Donald Trumps. (Both are revolting. ) The Donald Trump who appeared in Mexico on Wednesday was vastly different from the Donald Trump we have grown used to seeing on the campaign trail. And he was certainly unrecognisable from the candidate who roared his way through his long-awaited immigration speech the same day in Arizona. Rather than flying into Mexico City in his usual private plane - Trump Force One, as it has come to be known - he was borne south of the border in a jetliner with an all-white livery that was not emblazoned with his surname. It was a rare display of airborne humility. Rather than disparage Mexicans, as he has done repeatedly since announcing his candidacy in New York last summer, the crucible moment of his campaign, he complimented his hosts. Rather than bark his way through a press conference, he was measured, hushed, almost reverential. It was almost as if he was speaking at a funeral. Clearly he had taken on board enjoinders from advisors like Chris Christie and Rudy Giuliani, who urged him to make the journey to Mexico so that he could have a stab at statesmanship. But by the time he got to Phoenix, the showman reverted to his greatest hits. Buoyed by a crowd shouting the signature chant of Trump rallies, "Build the Wall! Build the Wall!" he delivered a strident speech reiterating many of his hard-line stances on immigration, even if he did not explicitly repeat his pledge to deport the estimated 11 million people living in the United States illegally. www.bbc.co.uk/news/election-us-2016-37249737

The new "Spitting Image" programme last night really took the proverbial out of Trump, calling him Forest Trump and having a great time picking the chocolates out of the box routine from the movie
