14/6/1913 – Emily Davison, a suffragette, runs out in front of King George V's horse, Anmer, at the Epsom Derby. She is trampled, never regains consciousness and dies four days later She was somewhat lauded for sacrificing her life for the cause -- at the same time she did have a return ticket to London in her pocket! I think she underestimated the weight and power of the horse, as she tried to grab at it.
