I watched this last night:
It is about a girl in Norway in about 1960 who is trying to break away from the church, and from her father (who is the priest). Not as one-sided as that may make it seem (the father is confused and upset as well), and not nearly as much of a downer either. Looks beautiful as well.

^^^ Thank you
Jess Franco did a version of that story called The Perverse Countess. He treated the idea of Game literally.

An adaptation of HP Lovecraft's story The Call of Cthulhu, made in 2005 but as if it had been done at the same time as the story was written (the late 1920s). It really is extraordinarily effective.

Talking of Susan Stranks, here is a streamed/dual download of Blue Lagoon. I don't know what the quality is like; the other versions I've got are pretty much unwatchable: for most people anyway; I think I'd manage it ok, but it would be good to have a decent version, where you can tell the gender of a character from how they look and not just their voice. So here's hoping...(As a film, this looks much better than the 80s soft, soft, soft porn remakes.) There are lots more films on that site as well as this.

I absolutely love the old b/w movies. Watch them every day when I can. I've met quite a few well know actors over the years, including the man above Dirk Bogarde. Another actor who was in the James Bond films had already warned me about Bogarde so I was very apprehensive about him. He had an annoying touchee feelie with men. Charming at first but a man to keep your distance from.
