Well, whatever I was expecting from this Ashes series, it certainly wasn't this. How wrong you (well, I) can be, eh? I'm sat here at half-four of a Sunday arvo, watching the mad carry-on at the SCG at the end of a most brilliant Ashes comeback by the Aussies. I'm crying with joy. God bless Boof Lehman; it was the day he was appointed as coach that Australia started to turn their fortunes around. And they've done it in very smart time. Sorry, guys; not gloating. Just so bloody happy I could bite a grape (PG Wodehouse - only Plum didn't include "bloody" in the original). Oh, and the title of this topic comes from Kerry O'Keeffe, the wonderful ABC cricket commentator, who announced during the Melbourne Test that he was retiring after this Ashes series - which may actually be why I'm crying. Anyhoo, ever since we won in Brissy (to everyone's surprise), Kerry's been chanting that in his commentary: "Stand Up. If you're x-nil up. Stand Up!..." as one winning test succeeded another... And while I'm here savouring the victory, I also claim the high moral ground: the Aussies managed to celebrate their comprehensive win without pissing all over the pitch. Not bad for a pack of uncivilised ratbag convicts.
