Has Johnson turned a new leaf and started telling the truth. I don't think he would know the truth if it hit him He wanted to be another Churchill,, in actual fact he has become another Chamberlain

I am appalled at a couple the comments above, almost gleeful that a man faced with a situation more serious than anything this country has ever faced has fallen ill due to the failure of his own policies.
The situation is absolutely ghastly but it would seem that on here no-one seems to want to discuss this in any rational way.
The government are doing the very best they can, and a lot more than in some other counties. There is little more they can do, other than impose martial law and operate as a police state.
I personally wish Boris, and indeed anyone else who is infected with this dreadful disease a full and speedy recovery.

He has fallen ill and his Health Sec because they ignored their own advice

He is running the country and that is impossable without meeting people.

Had the government started to take action when they were first strongly advised to, the situation of our (real) heroes - NHS and social care workers - would be far better - they would have sufficient PPE and there would be far more ventilators available. But no - Boris knows best. Well, it's come back to bite him on the bum hasn't it?

But no - Boris knows best. Well, it's come back to bite him on the bum hasn't it? Boris has acted on the very best scientific and medical advice available, but somehow it is all his fault. We do not have a police state here so can't weld people into their apartments. Hindsight is a great thing and no doubt some of the things that have been done, and will be done will be scrutinised at a later date by the 'if only' brigade.
As for there being more ventilators and PPE, no one predicted this, nor could they have done. But I do know that superhuman efforts are being made to supply everything that possibly can be provided.
The present crisis is, or should be beyond anyone's personal political opinions. I hear the esteemed Piers Morgan shouting his mouth off and criticising what is being done. Well, I personally don't because I neither listen to him or read what he writes so can only comment second hand. However this is the same man who deliberately falsified and published pictures of our troops in the Middle East accusing them of abusing prisoners, and as a result was sacked by the Daily Mirror. And in one of his broadcasts a few days ago he frightened a friends mother, aged 90 so much that she would not even let her daughter put a pint of milk on her doorstep.
As I said before, this is or should be beyond political preferences, and certainly beyond the sniping from certain sections of the press.

If you read the Sunday Telegraph they are reporting today about a government exercise in 2016 where they examined how prepared we would be for a flu pandemic which is similar to today Conclusion - not enough ventilators and protection kits and the NHS would not cope. So the illprepared excuse does not wash BTW The Telegraph is a Tory supporting newspaper, this shows that not all Tories share your opinion and this is not a party political. Even the faithful are starting to wake up and realise that Boris and Co have cocked up

Boris has never claimed to know best. He has frequently explained that he is being advised by epidemiologists and scientists on how to manage this situation best. As ever, hindsight is a wonderful thing. I praise our government for trying to think long term and help businesses and workers financially. In Germany, they are offering to pay 60% of workers pay,not like the 80% here. As no one in this country has previous experience of a situation like this, because there has never, been a situation like this before, we must all do our part in trying to keep the virus cases down. Sadly, too many selfish morons are not obeying the government guidelines.
Sorry Jonjel,I have just read your last post and I had started my post which was delayed by a phone call, so I am saying virtually what you said.

I just don't think a lot of negativity helps anyone in this time of world crisis. The final reckoning after the end of this dreadful pandemic will show whether our government performed as well as,or better, than other governments. In the meantime, coulda, shoulda, woulda is not helpful. Also, there are things we don't know about going on the background to all this. My daughter's firm has been making ventilators for many weeks.

I saw a brief clip of Boris speaking from isolation last night. He is obviously still doing everything possible even from where he is, but I must say, he looked pretty unwell.
I wish him well, because the country really needs someone like him right now.
