Anyone else bemused by tv chefs' ingredients ? A teaspoonful (eg) looks to me more like a tablespoonful and heaven knows what size their cups are.

I got sick of all those cookery shows some time ago. It's easy to make wonderful dishes when you are using cognac and cream and other exotic ingredients. The real heroes of cooking are the wives and mums who turn out three meals a day, seven days a week.

Our mothers managed years ago without the benefit of TV or Radio cooks, they were lucky to have a Mrs Beetons

I still enjoy watching Nigella. She obviously enjoys eating as well as cooking.

I think everyone likes watching Nigella. She is very sensuous about food and it shows. I don't know one man who doesn't love to watch Nigella.

Sorry, I can't stand her. She looks to me as if she belongs in a porn movie, and all that nonsense of her husband threatening to choke her provoking "poor me"

Jack Monroe is pretty good and at times like this we need her ideas for cooking on a tight budget. A tenner at the supermarket, transformed into some pretty tasty stuff.
As for the rest of them they seem to be able to reach into some vast store cupboard crammed with thousands of pounds worth of stuff, all in date. A luxury denied to the rest of us.

I really like James Martin. He is a big handsome lad from Yorkshire. He has a sweet tooth and makes lots of yummy desserts. He's rather yummy himself.

I abandoned Great British Bake Off about two and a half episodes in for the first time ever. Gave Nigella five minutes of her latest series then stopped. In fact I think I’ve gone off of all of them - apart from Nigel Slater that is.

Nigel Slater has a very calm manner, which always relaxes me when I watch him. He is what I would call a sensible cook. I like him.
