I was with you up to 'no meat'... We actually had a spicy pork and a beef dish. I meant the locals who are still third world can't afford too much carnie................

I love coconut in food too. Actually I just love coconut! I have coconut shampoo, shower gel and body lotion. I adore Bounty bars.....both varieties.

I suppose you could use the Bounty bar as body lotion Norty!
Not a good morning for me. Went to let the ducks out and feed them only to find the bloody foxes had beaten me to it. Broke in through the back of the duck house. I now have a pile of bodies and feathers to deal with later today.
My main problem is, what am I going to tell the grandchildren and a few of the local little ones.

I had the same problem when my two delightful goats were slaughtered by a pack of dogs!

And mine to you old boy. I like goats. They have wonderful eyes, but don't take that the wrong way!
All the carcasses have now been dealt with. The end of about 20 years of breeding to get some great colours. They were Indian Runners. And the orchard seems so quiet....
I would like to show the tree hugging 'dear little foxes' brigade the mayhem. They seem to think that foxes die in bed, on painkillers surrounded by their friends and family and it is entirely the fault of poultry keepers letting those little darlings be tempted.
Mine were well secured, and they smashed through the wire and timber which must have taken time and effort.

I'm so sorry to hear about your ducks JJ. I know they were a source of great enjoyment to you and our family.
Norty xx

I like goats - I like their insane eyes and the way their skins just seem to have been draped over their bones!

They are very loving and so easy to rear.
I bought them at 2 & 3 days old (by the kilo) and fed them on powder sheeps milk. Forget the manual.....hold the bucket firmly ,they submerge their heads in the milk till drowning and then re-appear, shake milk all over you....take a deep breath and back in..

My then wife and I borrowed a kid, a little white chap called Hansel, the idea being that he would crop our unruly grassy patch. It turned out he preferred the rose bushes... He was great fun - only with us for a week, but made himself at home with us. Next door's dachshund nipped his leg, just above the hoof. After that, Hansel kept going up to people and showing them his hurty leg - holding it out for inspection! Really cute.

I had a hurty leg a few weeks back. Caught it on a pub table. I showed it to some of my mates but they just laughed

They would! But then you are not a pretty little white goat, holding out your dainty little hoof for inspection.
Or are you?

I like goats as well and was once involved with some people who had a herd of about 50, used to feed tsetse flies as they were the nearest thing to antelope, but that is another story.
I came close to buying a cottage some years back which had a very long narrow strip of land bordering a lane. It was completely overgrown with brambles and all else besides and I said to my (ex) wife that I would put a few goats on it to clear the land, and follow that with pigs, and within 2 years we would have perfect soil for growing whatever we wanted.
Her reply (and she was serious) was 'Hm, if you think I am going to hang the washing out being chased by wild animals you can think again'
Once a townie, always a townie.

MrsA loves animals (probably why she married me lol) We have had all sorts. When we lived in Ealing we had two horses stabled at Heathrow. Every night we had to go there to muck out. Our Fiat always had straw and hay bales in the back. Mad? Yes! The only bonus was that we came back through Southall and had terrific Indian food!

Southall is a great place for good cheap shopping. The pubs are lousy though.
