About three weeks before my son was getting married,I broke a bone in my foot. I was plastered up to the knee! That didn't go down well because I'd bought sandals with killer heels to wear for the wedding. OOps,back to the topic. I had crutches to use to keep my weight off my foot. The first time I tried to walk with them inside the bungalow,I overbalanced and went careering through the door to the hall.I bounced off the left side door which pushed me into the bathroom where I landed up with my head underneath the toilet. I was home alone, so found it extremely difficult to extricate myself . Then I crawled into the living room and lay down on the sofa for a while. I had to just hop round the house because I daren't try the crutches again.I was black and blue. I managed to cut the plaster off myself with a Stanley knife and wear my lovely sandals. No dancing though.

Crutches are difficult to use. My husband broke his leg while we were in Alaska on holiday last year and he was given crutches that went under his armpits. He struggled away with those until we got home 12 days later. Over here they gave him elbow crutches, we had his armpit ones at the hospital and they didn’t want them. So in the garage we have my old crutch from 20 years ago, 2 armpit crutches, 2 newer elbow crutches and one crutch walking stick. I’ve tried giving them back to the hospital but seems if they’ve been used folk are funny about using them!
The last two weeks however I’ve commandeered MrNs newer crutch for my own walking aid, but I’m wondering if I can grow sweet peas or runner beans up the others! 😁

Old Peoples' homes
Would you contemplate them for you or your spouse?

Old Peoples' homes Would you contemplate them for you or your spouse? If you accept that you surrender control of what is left of your life and institutionalisation then fine

The specialist is talking of giving me a heart pacemaker. Anyone got one? A neighbour had one fitted, the ambulance was regularly at his door and he was often admitted to hospital. He had to wait his turn to have one fitted but since then there have been no more ambulances or admissions

The lady next door has one and she has been fine since she had it fitted. I think it's a straightforward operation.Better to be safe than sorry.

My wife who can'r stand or walk has now been given an appointment with the orthopaedic surgeon in July. So we're hoping surgery after that.

I haven't been well for a few days.I am slowly starting to feel better. My daughter has had me on bed rest for two days and when she came this morning and found me up,she was very cross. I'm just resting, but not feeling up to par yet. I have arranged for all my children to come on Sunday for a surprise birthday party for OH. I have to pull myself together by then.

I see nothing wrong with baldness, I am "thinning" so now have a number 1 cut all over. Easy to maintain, no more hassle with shampoo etc, just rub a flannel over when having a wash
