An LGBT group has cut ties with tennis great Martina Navratilova after she said it was a form of "cheating" for transgender women to be allowed to compete in women's sport.
New York-based Athlete Ally, which supports LGBT sportspeople, called the comments transphobic and removed the 18-time Grand Slam winner from its advisory board and as an ambassador.
Navratilova wrote in The Sunday Times that it was "insane" that transgender athletes who "decide" to become female had achieved honors "that were beyond their capabilities as men."
Any views?

This "trannie" continual publicity is getting on my nerves, if you want to chop your bits off or add bits on then do so in private. I don't want to know. I think tht sports authorities should make it plain that men born as men should participate in mens events and similar for females. We have had plenty of so called Russian women over the years I have only ever know one, Paul who became Paula, lovely lady who did not make it obvious. This was way back in the late 70s/80s when a couple of psychiatrists were required to support the change, and made it very difficult. He went to London and worked as a male prostitute to earn enough to go to N Africa and pay for the operation. He never regretted it apart from the daily hassle of keeping herself "open"

When I read about transgender people (male to female) competing in womens' sports I couldn't help thinking it's unfair for ordinary women. It seems to me that LGBT people feel entitled to have their cake AND eat it. I'm beginning to wonder if all these people who self identify as the wrong gender are genuinely the wrong gender. There's no doubt, that occasionally,a baby can be misidentified at birth. That is a tragic situation. However,so many men are coming forward wanting to transition, that I wonder exactly what is going on.

There is a case going on at the moment it is one of Caster Semenya who is not transgender but has been found to have high testosterone levels. Since the findings after many tests for banned substances which all athletes have to go through, she has been forced to take suppressants. She is objecting to this and has gone to court to fight it. At the moment there is no scientific evidence that says Semenya has an unfair advantage on other female athletes because of the testosterone levels in her blood. Her counsel compared it to banning the likes of Usain Bolt for having longer legs than his opponents which brought light relief in court. The case continues.

That's a bloody good point.

Have you seen Caster Semenya? She does look like a man. Some of the Russian women athletes have also looked male. It all seems very complicated.

I must agree, she does look like a man. I've always thought she looks like Dwayne Chambers twin.
