I have been in forums since 2004 and currently belong to five I visit on a regular basis. I have belonged to several forums that failed over time. I was thinking about this the other day and it has made me wonder about other posters here. Have you been a regular forum user and when did you start using forums? Did friends recommend the forums you belong to?

I glanced through a few, some containing some very unpleasant characters and lots of bitchyness I chose this one simple because I fancied playing Next, simple as that

There are no bitchy or unpleasant characters here,Jimmy. It's a refreshing change to have such a kindly group who all get along fine.

Been using forums nearly a decade. I like the structure foremost but unlike social media, admin can be tough going sometimes with power-hungry moderators - there are forums I can name like FISO and Digital Spy (which are massive boards) and of course some forums will have lurkers and trolls. In the post above this I read that there are no unpleasant/bitchy characters here. What I have learned is that smaller forums are better, they tend to be nicely moderated, uncluttered and nicer clientele - ergo too many people equals too much noise!

Correct GLA, this board is run to please the regulars. Any who upset too much are dismembered

I too have been using forums for well over 14 years or more now. My WW2 website has been up since around 2004. I have been invited to join quite a few in my time but over the years I have had to neglect many plus my website because of bad health looking after my hubby who died 2 years ago after going through 8 years of hell with Dementia. I am 88 now and had many invitations to join various groups and forums plus being asked to give talks at different venues because folk now seem to want to know any tales from the war years. Not many of us left now to ask about those years hence the popularity.
