Off to hospital tomorrow to have some injections in my spine to help with pain. Bit nervous. Don't worry dear Toots , you'll be fine.

Off to hospital tomorrow to have some injections in my spine to help with pain. Bit nervous. Good luck with that toots, I am on the waiting list hoping to get a cortisone type injection in my lower lumbar region, I'm not getting depressed but the pain gets worse when I walk , that's frustrating. Sound like the same as me. I couldn’t walk more than about ten yards before I got severe pins and needles, numbness and severe pain across the back and down the legs. Couldn’t lay on my back at night or else more of the same. I had an epidural in the lower back to numb the nerves at about 1pm. Unpleasant but doable, very quick in op theatre, will take a few more hours to start to get back to normal. Still very wobbly when I stand.

Morning all: Nothing special today. Just another boring Sunday. Cleaning and preparing meals, it doesn't sound very exciting does it.

I hope Toots and Riki get some relief via these injections. May only be effective for a period of time but who cares if they work? Good luck both xx

I went yesterday to see a (free) exhibition at Temple Place called The Glass Heart. It was just amazing how a material we take for granted, so commonplace, can be fashioned into either the mundane or the exquisite. Such beauty...

I saw someone in the chocolate aisle in Tesco's yesterday who looked just like you, Spud. If I wasn't sure it wasn't, I'd have spoken. She was in a hurry and didn't buy any chocolate.
We played as a string quartet in church this morning. All the shepherd hymns and a piece each by Bach and a Dutch Composer. I'm very tired and I'm going back to my book.

Well, I do get around..though infrequently as far as Somerset 😂 but I never visit the chocolate aisle, so it could've been me in that sense... Talking of Spuds, I buy potatoes and have been fuming for a long time because of eyes, scabs and black insides. You end up throwing two thirds of them away! But -wonder of wonders - I have found the spud of choice. White potatoes from M&S. Every single one edible 😁👍

They're all edible. Some only once. But that's Fungi. Didn't it say what variety on the label? I never buy 'white potatoes' because it's the stores' opportunity to keep their customers in blissful ignorance of the season, the weather, and the fact that Hot cross buns are for Good Friday, not all the year round.
Matron. My pills!
Sorry I called you Spud, I had a flash attack of Nominal Aphasia, which drives out of the head everything but itself.

Morning all: No frost this morning, that's a bonus. Back into the world of the living today. Got to take my wife for a blood test then into town.

Ooh..no offence at all Rwth 😁 A propos the white potatoes, I did check out the variety on the M&S bag but didn't recognise the name anyway... Melody, grown by Alastair Priestley of Lincolnshire (he sounds a fine chap, doesn't he?) I did know the black ones are edible - but distinctly unappealing. The other week we had the grandchildren here and despite loving my crispy spuds, rejected outright any black looking ones. I had to eat those 🫤

...and taste disgusting 🤮 😂 The b,rand I buy are fresh and tasty. ...and French, no doubt 🤔 They're probably fine just to eat au naturel - but they're no good whatever for roast potatoes, or jacket, come to that... That would be a development - a jacket potato in a tin...

I used to buy New potatoes in a tin, after my late husband brought them home once. That was in the days when I used to scrape thousands of Jersey Royals on a Saturday night getting my fingers all wrinkly. Then I discovered I only needed to wash them and they tasted just as good with the skins on. I liked Anya best because they were long and thin, a cross from Pink Fir Apple and another variety. The pink ones are white when they're cooked too.
For mash, nothing beats King Edwards. I just like the taste but can't eat huge spoonfuls of cotton wool which is what most mash tastes like. But I still like the name Maris Piper. I started to like baked potatoes when I realised you could eat the skin and it's good to brush them with oil first. Supermarkets brand large potatoes Baking potatoes but you can still do lots of other things with them. I like a mixture of sizes and the best size for baking is 8 ozs (200gmm) I like Parmentier potatoes. Parboiled, 1/2" cubed then deep fried and served with lemon juice and Black pepper.
