Well that's good, he'll get to see your beautiful part of the world. Do you ever consider travelling with assistance. I think it's airline dependent but from what I've seen at Newcastle Airport seems to work well.

Ah got you, that's the thing isn't it.
I've just been to the bookies to pick up my National winnings. Once a year flutter and remarkably I did OK. I had a win on I am Maximus, chosen because Gladiator is one of my sons favourite films. Then I went each way on Kitty whatever, because they were paying out on the first 5, then two lucky dips, one of which was I am Maximus.
Afternoon is now planned. The pub to watch Arsenal and a steak!

I had Galia Des Liteaux in the National sweep. (Sunk without trace.) I am trying to eat proper food with some success. If I eat slowly and chew everything to a mush ,I can manage. It takes quite a lot of effort, so once a day is enough. Struggling today with my hands and back pain. I saw my neighbour and her fiancé jiving in their garden earlier. Both in their 70s, bless them. I thought it was great. The bane of my life (him next door) has started calling me over the fence. My name is not Lassie, so I certainly won't come when I'm called.

Try not to eat anything flaky, sharp or crumbly Althea and take sips of fluid in between each small mouthful. That's harder than it seems, I know but it's the way to do it. There are companies who specialise in frozen meals for people with dysphagia, but they're very expensive. Good luck!

Thanks Hild, I am learning a lot about swallowing and easy foods and difficult foods.

Thank goodness for chocolate, I say. It melts in the mouth and slides down really easily. It is VERY windy here today. We are used to strong winds, but today is taking things to excess.

I know what you mean Maris, I've been putting off getting a new washer for ages. We had new flooring last year and I'm afraid of them tearing the wooden flooring. So, I've been getting this old machine repaired when it goes wrong. I know one day soon I will have to chance it and get a new one. I know your hesitation so well Ron. Maybe you have a local outfit you could go to, where they know what they're doing - rather than the big boys where the only benefit is saving a few quid on the price...? I had a fall in the kitchen a fortnight ago. I wasn't hurt but I managed to bust the washing machine door completely off its hinges when I fell. I went online to Amazon and, since I never use the drier function anyway, I ordered an Indesit washer to replace my damaged Hoover washer/drier. I paid the extra to get the old one taken away and for the new one to be installed and I was very satisfied with the service. They arrived on time last Friday and, most importantly, the young man who installed the new machine knew exactly what he was doing. He plumbed it in and ran a test rinse and spin cycle to check for any faults before he left, drinks in hand for himself and his compatriot and I could not have been happier with the process.

That's interesting, I didn't know Amazon would deliver and install. It's worth knowing.

It certainly is. I tend to use Euronics because they are local and work as a cooperative. They also come out and do repairs (well they do here).

Welcome Scalliwaggle - well despite the fall that precipitated the purchase, sounds like you landed on your feet with Amazon. Lucky - as from what I have read, that's not always the case!
I am still thrilled with my new machine - it does a wash in 14 minutes - AND there are no puddles to mop up 😁👍
