I love Werthers. What's your favourite? Original,* though I think they're a bit sweet for me now. We used to call them War Criminals, based on the age of the grandfather in the original advert. *Sorry, I thought this was a Werthers' thread. My favourite sweet is:

I love all things liquorice. Though these days I can't manage liquorice torpedoes - they are too hard for my teeth. Henry Goode's soft eating liquorice is my favourite at the moment. I like Pontefract cakes and liquorice allsorts. I used to love aniseed balls, but I have gone off those recently. I like Lindt chocolate best and I can't eat Galaxy, which seems to have very little chocolate in it. My favourite Werthers are the soft caramels, which just melt on the tongue. Aubs,Fishermans' Friends are medicine not sweets.

Thornton's toffee. In December they had a special offer. Buy two items and get a third one free. I ordered so many I still have a few boxes left.

Aubs,Fishermans' Friends are medicine not sweets. Not the way I eat them. I used to like fruit gums. They were good, hard and long-lasting; then they changed the recipe and made them softer, and also added Gelatine. That's when I started on Fisherman's Friends. I have some nice chocolate praline shells at the moment: I think they were an unwanted present to my MiL, so I got them. They're good, though I don't think they really count as sweets. I have some humbugs from somewhere, but they're quite dull really: and they cut the roof of your mouth up something rotten.

Thornton's toffee. In December they had a special offer. Buy two items and get a third one free. I ordered so many I still have a few boxes left. It's lovely when you leave it a while to go soft. I had to give Thornton's toffee up for the sake of my teeth. I often think about it and wish I dare eat it.

I put my Thornton's toffee in the fridge. But you are right, after a minute of chewing the toffee is lovely.
