How do you know that is what he did, nothing has been proved Nothing has to be proved. Most of the stories about him do not involve criminal acts. He's said himself that he used his position to get sex, but that it was all consensual. He should have no problem with it being publicised. "Nothing has to be proved" Don't think I like your idea of justice, just let the lynch mob loose

The rape has to be proved, but the rest of it he has admitted to, and said it was consensual.
The power imbalance is implicit but obvious. You're joked about casting couches yourself "Everyone knows it goes on", or something similar: how would you feel if it had been expected that you have to shag or put up with groping from your employer to get or keep any job you've had, with the promise of being blacklisted if you don't put out?

If that was normal in that industry and I wanted to succeed I suppose I would go along with it Sex has always been used by people in power, men and women. If you don't like the heat then get out of the kitchen instead of crying "spilt milk" Do you approve of the damage done to the likes of Ted Heath, Cliff Richard by wilful unproven allegations?

You could easily say the same thing about Jimmy Savile. Allegations, not proven.
The impetus for Cliff Richard was the same as that for Savile - rumour, "everyone knows", etc.
It is "Normal" in lots of industries, not just entertainment.

Michael Gove makes a joke, and in wade the humourless feminists and PC faithfull complaining
"Asked by host John Humphrys about the challenge of facing an interview on the show, Mr Gove replied: "Sometimes I think that coming into the studio with you John is a bit like going into Harvey Weinstein's bedroom."" I am no fan of "stab you in the back" Gove but it is coming to something when jokes are subject to such a reaction

I am no fan of "stab you in the back" Gove but it is coming to something when jokes are subject to such a reaction You know why though, don't you? Because everything Weinstein has been accused of (and the stuff he has admitted to) has always been regarded as just a joke, and that's why when someone says it has happened to her no one takes it seriously, and so it keeps on happening. Also because the Tories have been up in arms about a joke a Labour MP made during a party at a conference, where - acting as a joke DJ - he told another man to "Get down, Bitch". The Tories and their supporters thought this was disgraceful, and not the kind of language a politician should ever use. They seem to be quite sanguine about this though. More

MoreI think that the Labour bloke is another story, he seems to continually make sexist, homophobic comments and has done for some years

He's a different one. And the one you mean is more complicated than that. But tomorrow! It's late and I've had some whisky, not the time for typing.

Not in the least funny is it to make jokes about anybody being sexually harrassed. Its demeaning .

Nobody except for Weinstein It was a joke and the PC world have now made it impossible to laugh at anything, if you smile at a woman these days or a child you are liable to be accused of assault or paedophilia. We need to restore the balance

It demeaned women who have been put into that situation by a powerful person, it demeaned John Humpry, it demeaned Gove himself for making an off the cuff remark that showed how ignorant he is of the Weinstein issue to women.
Is it ok to make jokes about child abuse? No Is it ok to make jokes about domestic abuse? No So why is it ok to make jokes about sexual harassment and abuse?
As for not being able to smile at a woman or child anymore, that is you being utterly ridiculous. Try redressing the balance by not making light of the above, try redressing the balance by owning behaviour of men who should know better, try redressing the balance by treating everybody with respect.
