Off the top of my head I would say that the microwave was our best buy Had always resisted, soaking up the horror stories of dangerous emissions and food not properly cooked etc. Came across an instore demonstration where a man was churning out pretty instant bacon butties. One bite and I was hooked, bought one on the spot Now for bacon, poached fish, fruit, and veg, never mind reheating soups etc, couldn't live without it

Yep, microwave oven fantastic. When I was working I would nip home for my lunch and sometimes stick some liver with an onion in the microwave. 2 minutes and it was gorgeous.

I have never dared to cook liver, probably memories of school dinner "leather" liver, and as I can buy it ready cooked with bacon and onions for just over £2 - enough for the two of us, I stick with that

You don't know what you are missing Bryan. I sometimes buy a ready meal of liver and onions from M&S but there's nothing like having fresh done in the microwave for a few minutes and it's not leathery at all.
