Do we all have a Dunelm mill locally? I could spend hours in there just browsing. We buy all our bedding and towels from there. I do. It is OK but you need to be a bit selective. I have bought bedding from them and a couple of sets of curtains. And you can in some of them get a reasonable cup of coffee.

Yesterday I needed a bit of veg and went to my local Tesco. I picked up a head of broccoli and grumbled to myself that I was paying for all that stalk, and I could not really find one small enough.
But, I spotted in the freezer section a bag of broccoli florets. And I looked at the price, then walked back to where the fresh was and found that the frozen was actually a few pence cheaper per Kg than the fresh, and no waste!
A no brainer, I cooked what I needed and the rest is back in the freezer.

In Tesco this morning I wanted Fairy non bio in the sachets. I saw the small one which had 12 sachets for £2. Then I saw the larger one which had 19 sachets for £5. I did my shopping and then when I got out I thought wait a minute I should have got 2 of the smaller ones for £4 and I'd have had 24 sachets. Doh!!

You can get some great bargains from Amazon. They have a section for goods that have been returned and the only thing wrong with them is that the packaging is damaged.

I am astonished they sell fresh fruit and veg. However a brief look tells me they are very expensive. £2:50 a Kg! C'mon. Perhaps they are appealing to those who don't go out much.

Well, yes - for people who don't go out at all, if they can help it. Jonjel - Broccoli: sliced broccoli stalks are wonderful, a real revelation. Really - try them sometime.

I discarded the stalks for a long time, then I thought, slice them..the flavour and texture is very good and the florets flabby and bland in comparison.

You see, Jonjel? It's not just me being weird. Not at all Aubs. You would be amazed at what I eat sometimes! And what tends to go into home made soups. A stick blender was one of the best things a lady friend bought me.

How could a stick blender not be a romantic gift?
